During the spring & fall season it can be tricky to plan your photo shoot outside.
Thats why its always great to have a plan B!!
When the day of your Clients shoot doesn‘t quite go to plan.
Why have a plan B? Why not just reschedule?
Imagine it’s the day of the shoot and for the past week it’s been saying clear skies, and only two hours before your photo shoot begins. Does it show a chance of rain? Your client already paid for her hair and makeup to get done. Do you just say “oh well we will try again next time.”.. NO! You figure something out!
As photographers we do our best to dodge bad weather but it can be tricky and sometimes impossible. More than once has this situation happened to me and MANY other fellow photographers.
Think ahead!
As the photographer being more familiar with the weather in the area you live in, Keep up with the weather & plan ahead.
A Few Tips
*Possibly change the location to an area where it wont rain
*Look up local studios that will be near by your session that offer same day bookings.
*Be flexible & have some dates open for rescheduling.
Follow up & take ACTION!
Always touch base with your client , let them know your ideas and suggestions. Reassure them that you are a professional and will make beautiful moments of them wherever you may take their pictures.
A Few Tips
*Have draft mood boards to help your clients see what their pics could look like in a studio.
*Send them your next availability’s
*Remember to always be sincere and work with your client, we may do this all the time because this is our work/art , but for them its more than a photo shoot.
At the end of the day its all up to your client on if they want to reschedule, But just in case when you can’t do a rain check I hope these tips will help you in the future!
Some beautiful moments from a last minute change due to weather
Literally planned this the day before the shoot. We started in Downtown Dallas then went to a studio to finish their engagement shoot Due to the cold rain.
